Ecuadors Extreme Weather
Across the country, Ecuador is at risk of several extreme weather disasters. Floods, droughts, landslides, and earthquakes are all natural disasters that Ecuador is vulnerable to. When talking about the natural disasters in Ecuador I frequently see the team "El Nino" being brought up. The El Nino phenomenon is when warm water builds up along the equator which warms the ocean and our atmosphere which installs more rainfall. Heavy rainfall from this causes many natural disasters including floods and landslides and since the 1980s we have seen a major increase in both disasters

32 percent of all-natural disasters in Ecuador have been flooding. In 1983 over 700,000 people were affected by floods over the year and since have been a recurring disaster. Just recently Ecuador had major flooding so here are some safety measures if there is flooding in your area.
Gather emergency supplies
Listen to local radio for updates
Do not drive or stand through flowing water
Find shelter
Only drink clean water
